Church leaders of many denominations are participating in conversations about the possibility of starting a new interchurch association that would be more inclusive than existing councils and associations.
Evangelicals, Orthodox, Catholics, and Pentecostals, as well as mainline Protestants, are participating in the conversations.
Jim Schrag, executive director of the Mennonite Church USA, participated in planning meetings for “Christian Churches Together in the U.S.A.” in January 2003 in California and January 2004 in Texas. The next meeting is scheduled for June 2005.
The organizational plan of “Christian Churches Together” can be found at www.christianchurchestogether.org. The purpose is “to enable churches and national Christian organizations to grow closer in Christ in order to strengthen our Christian witness in the world.”
